What the heck is a solenoid?

A sprinkler solenoid is the mechanism that runs the sprinkler valves electronically through the automatic sprinkler timer (it's the thing sticking up out of the valve). If one of these solenoids fail many issues can arise in your sprinkler system.

Issues:
  • An area of the lawn or planter bed will stop being watered
  • A power surge can be sent backwards forcing the sprinkler timer to stay running
  • After the sprinkler valve turns on, it may remain stuck on even if the sprinkler timer is off
  • Leaking from a warn out seal causing the sprinkler valve to stay on and not shut off manually.
  • Could skip the sprinkler zone needing water or shut the whole timer off, skipping all the watering zones!
